More Than 500 People Show Support for the Foundation during #BloodCancerAwareness MonthMore than 500 participants, volunteers and sponsors gathered to show their support during September’s Blood Cancer Awareness month for the 4th annual SagerStrong Fun Run Sunday, September 11th at Truist Park. Northside Hospital, The Aspire Group, Cumberland Group, Transperfect, Walmart, Corrective Chiropractic East Cobb, and Benchmark Physical Therapy/Results PhysioTherapy were the headling sponsors leading the charge to raise funds for blood cancer research. In addition, the following organizations all came out to participate in Tent Town and lend support: Big Peach Running Company, Cobb Sports Alliance, Excellence in Exercise, True Speed Photos, Cobb County Fire and Emergency services, Full Scope Sports, and Stretch Labs. Niagara donated water for all participants while Publix, Costco, Tower Treats, Duck Donuts East Cobb and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice all provided post-race goodies in the fun and interactive Tent Town area. Atlanta area Mascots – Blooper from the Braves, Harry the Hawk, Kennesaw State’s “Hootie” the Owl, as well as the Atlanta Hawks Flight Crew, Hawks Dancers and DJ Dan entertained fans in Tent Town. The morning’s festivities were hosted by Head of Programming and Development/On Air correspondent at Reach TV, Holly Firfer.
The SagerStrong Fun Run took participants on a journey inside and throughout Truist Park –around the main concourse, through the maze of ramps, to different levels of the stadium — as they finished strong inside Truist Park and celebrated with the Braves World Champions Trophy on the field! The overall male winner, Chad Gilbert, finished the fun, but challenging course, with a 12:01.

New this year, through a partnership with metro Atlanta Walmart stores, the SagerStrong Foundation hosted its first Kids In Motion Program at the Stadium Fun Run as well, offering ONE COMPLIMENTARY RACE ENTRY to Atlanta area underserved children, as well as snacks provided by Publix and Costco, and water provided by Niagara, and a take home bag to each participant with goodies provided by Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Atlanta Braves.
The SagerStrong Foundation Board Member and Channel 2 Sports Zone reporter, Alison Mastrangelo, announced our 4th SagerStrong Hometown Hero as well, Addison Bulloch, a pediatric cancer currently in middle school in Jackson County. Addison had pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 3 ½. Addison fought for 2 ½ years – and is in remission now. Participants purchasing the Race/Atlanta Braves game ticket package will be returning to Truist Park for the Mets vs Braves game on Sunday, October 2nd at 7:00 PM game and a pre-game parade on the field in memory of Craig Sager and all those in their fight against blood cancer.
