SAGERS, SAGERSTRONG FOUNDATION RECEIVES MAKING CANCER HISTORY® AWARD

Established in 2007 to recognize visionaries who are committed to MD Anderson’s mission to end cancer. MD Anderson honored Sager’s legacy by awarding Craig posthumously, as well as his wife, Stacy, and the SagerStrong Foundation with the Making Cancer History Award®. Stacy continues to honor his memory through the foundation, which benefits MD Anderson patients, most recently with a gift to support Dr. Pemmaraju’s AML research.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s 2021 virtual event honored our own Craig Sager, and celebrates celebrities’ contributions to Making Cancer History® last week!  The all-star lineup of basketball greats, several of whom also are courageous cancer survivors, shared their stories at MD Anderson Cancer Center’s A Conversation with a Living Legend event Feb. 4th.   Click below to learn more about the event, and see behind the scene photos.  Over $1.1 million was raised to support blood cancer research at MD Anderson.

The Making Cancer History award is given to people who truly make a difference in the lives of others by demonstrating the institution’s core values of caring, integrity and discovery.
